Tech firm, statewide radio network team up to sponsor and host day-long focus on annual drama linked to deciding the destinies of dozens of major college football programs

Ridgeland, Mississippi (February 2, 2016) – The annual dating ritual between top high school recruits and major college football programs in Mississippi and across the country is just about over. Now it’s time to see which players and schools decide to go steady for the next four years.

C Spire and SuperTalk Mississippi are teaming up this year to sponsor and host a day-long National Signing Day program Wednesday focused on answering all the burning questions from die-hard college football fans about where their favorite high school star players have decided to play on Saturday.

The day will kick off with a live broadcast of ESPNU’s National Signing Day Special and SEC Network day-of coverage that starts at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on a large-screen projection TV in the first floor conference center of the diversified telecom and technology services company’s Ridgeland corporate offices.

Beginning at 1 p.m., SuperTalk’s statewide sports radio talk show - Head to Head with Matt Wyatt and Richard Cross - will broadcast a special five-hour program featuring live interviews with coaches, players and the latest recruiting news from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Jackson State among other schools. The program is co-hosted by Wyatt, a former Mississippi State quarterback and Cross, a radio and television sports reporter.

Some of the guests scheduled to appear on HeadtoHead are Jackson State head football coach Tony Hughes, Chris Brooks of Mississippi Gridiron, Clarion-Ledger high school recruiting expert Courtney Cronin, sports writer Rick Cleveland of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum and new Southern Miss head coach Jay Hopson.

Several of the area’s top high school players and their coaches also are scheduled to appear on the program, including Germantown cornerback Nigel Knott, Clinton quarterback Cam Akers, Crystal Springs wide receiver Jeriko Morris and McComb defensive end KaDerrion Mason.

“High school and college football fans are passionate about their teams and players. We want to give them a place to gather to celebrate our state’s rich gridiron tradition,” said C Spire CEO Hu Meena. “By partnering with SuperTalk, we can deliver some of the best content around to an eager audience.”

Admission is free. Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be provided by Seafood Revolution. At the end of the program, C Spire will do a drawing for a gift basket and a pair of VIP tickets to an upcoming C Spire Live concert on May 14 in Madison featuring mega-popular country duo Florida Georgia Line. The company’s corporate offices are located at 1018 Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland.
